About

I make my work using an array of mediums to realize my characters in a visual and tangible form while keeping a consistent quality. I am drawn to characters that are made up of simple shapes and smooth vibrant colors. I focus on designing them for animation and repetitive drawing. Takashi Murakami’s mix of cute, creepy characters and comprehensive understanding of what makes characters appealing is a big influence for me. After seeing his show in person, I was incited with the desire to create sculptures of my characters. My motivation to realize my characters in a sculptural form keeps me constantly creating and planning to attain this goal.

I have always designed my own characters as way to focus my constant creative energy.  I have an array of recurring characters and their stories that inspire my art, such as Dominic, Reboot, Ronove, and Rimi.  They are extensions of my feelings, and ways to explore my identity. Reboot, the red hooded girl, is something of a indirect persona for myself and revolves around the idea of searching for one’s self identity. While these characters are very personal to me, I want their stories and themes to be relatable to others and enable the audience to create an attachment. I also enjoy creating environments and worlds for these characters to reside in and creating simple landscapes to expand the universe to the viewers.  My ultimate ambition is to introduce my characters to as many people as possible though my art and my stories.
